Internship for Master's students
Objectives:
6-month internship focused on developing an understanding of the possibility of simulating the effects of thermal and pressure stresses on casing, cement, reservoir, and cap rock during cyclic CO2 injection using the GEM simulator from CMG. It is essential to develop a workflow and numerical model to reproduce the results of laboratory experiments conducted by TUBAF. Depending on performance, the internship may be extended into a master’s thesis.
Tasks and deliverables:
- Gain a thorough understanding of GEM’s functionality in coupled fluid flow, geochemistry, and geomechanics.
- Build a conceptual model to represent the interaction between casing, cement, reservoir, and cap rock under different pressure-temperature injection conditions based on laboratory experiments.
- Support the development of an approach for upscaling lab results to field scale
Requirements:
- Expertise in numerical reservoir and geomechanical modeling
- Expertise in fluid and rock mechanics
- Basic experience with CMG GEM or any other product from the CMG family is a plus
