Modul II: Risk Assessment in Energy Technology
Lecturer: Dr. Techn. Matteo Broggi
Description
Technical systems in the energy sector involve uncertainties and potential risks that must be systematically identified, analysed and assessed. A sound understanding of risk assessment methods is essential for evaluating system reliability, identifying potential failures and supporting informed engineering decisions.
This module introduces participants to the fundamental principles and methodologies of risk assessment in energy engineering. It covers qualitative approaches to identifying and evaluating risks, as well as systematic analytical methods such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), which can be used to investigate potential system failures and their underlying causes.
Participants will gain an understanding of how different risk assessment methods can be applied to engineering systems and how their results contribute to technical decision-making.
Key Topics
- Fundamentals of risk assessment in engineering
- Risk identification and qualitative assessment methods
