Drillbotics competition 2019

The final of the 2019 SPE Drillbotics competition was held at TU Clausthal’s Drilling Simulator Celle from the 11th until the 14th of June.

Drillbotics® is an international competition for universities to design and build a small drilling rig that uses sensors and control algorithms to autonomously drill a rock sample provided by SPE’s Drilling Systems Automation Technical Section (DSATS). Five teams from universities in Norway, Algeria and Germany assembled in Celle to compare their solutions of a small-scale automated drilling rig. Each group consisted of about five students. Also, some teams were accompanied by their scientific staff and professors. The event offered an excellent opportunity to exchange opinions and technologies in an exciting multi-cultural environment.
