The institute takes another major step forward by renaming the Institute of Petroleum Engeering as Institute of Subsurface Energy Systems. Although topics in oil and gas production remain a main research, new focuses with regard to the energy transition are added. In recent years the institute worked on many geothermal systems related projects. New research offers the subsurface energy storage and underground methanation. Last year the institute was able to acquire a DFG project in this field.
At the same time the Institute of Subsurface Energy Systems goes online with its new web presence, which is going to be further extendened during the upcoming months.
