Dipl.-Ing Holger Hüneke

Holger Hüneke is heading the division of non-operated assets of GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH, the German affiliate of the international French ENGIE group (former GDF SUEZ).

Born in Bremen, Germany on August 28th 1955 Holger Hüneke studied Petroleum Engineering at Technical University in Clausthal-Zellerfeld from 1976 until 1983.

In the same year he started as a reservoir engineer with one of the German predecessors of ENGIE, Preussag Erdöl und Erdgas in Hannover.

Two years later he joined the American affiliate of Preussag in Houston as petroleum engineer to extend the business in the Unites States offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and various onshore activities.

After his return in 1988 to Preussag in Hannover he was responsible as reservoir engineer for several German oil and gas fields and was engaged in various national and international acquisition projects before he headed the Preussag production operations of the eastern oil and gas assets in Hamburg, Schönewörde and Berkhöpen from 1992 until 1993.

In 1994 Holger Hüneke took over the Oil-Reservoir Engineering department in Lingen following the merger in 1991 of the German E&P companies Preussag Erdöl und Erdgas GmbH in Hannover, Deutsche Schachtbau- und Tiefbohrgesellschaft mbH in Lingen and Deilmann Erdöl Erdgas GmbH in Bad Bentheim to Deilmann Erdöl Erdgas and later Preussag Energie GmbH headquarted in Lingen.

In 1998 he was appointed to division head of Production Technology of Preussag Energie responsible for worldwide subsurface engineering (reservoir, geology, chemistry, production, drilling and completion).

Following the acquisition of Preussag by Gaz de France he headed the Exploration and Production Division of the German affiliate GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH from 2002 until 2009.

Starting in 2010 Holger Hüneke joined the newly established floating LNG project Bonaparte LNG offshore Darwin during the pre-FEED and appraisal drilling phase in Perth - Australia as head of the upstream E&P activities until end of 2011.

Returning to Germany in 2012 he headed the oil and gas operations of GDF SUEZ in Germany until the re- organization in 2014 with his current position.
